Washington State, 9-23

We crossed into Washington state and stopped at the first rest stop.  A welcome service ethic and plain old common sense prevail here.

This actually works--push the button and you hear a three-day forecast.

Restroom directions for the directionally challenged and/or mentally incontinent.

Fueling station for electric cars.

Through pouring rain we headed northwest of Seattle toward the Olympic peninsula and drove most of the afternoon with the Hood Canal on our right.  At one point we saw a beautiful, full rainbow arcing across the canal (photos were not blog-worthy).

The Olympic Mountains rose on our left.  An occasional break in the rain allowed us to photograph them.

We found some lodgepole pine trees here.  We haven’t seen these since we left Yellowstone.

Travel Tip:   Chefs prize stainless steel because it’s durable, non-corrosive, impervious to rust, easy to clean, possesses uniform strength that is highly resistant to surface scratches and rim dents, and retains its shape.  Guys, when travelling, remember that the next time you visit the head.

  1. Thank you for the mountains, canal, and lodgepole pine; I hope I'm not starting to get landscape fatigue. I just expect everything to be spectacular.

Also, thanks for the travel tips. Nice to know that the guys are taken care of (I notice there's no photo of the women's facilities), and the stainless steel looks good, but what is that interesting color on the floor?

I love the electric pump, too! Rock On!

    1. Actually, Jane, that pic was taken in a unisex bathroom. Just be grateful we didn't blog the pic of the stool.
