Grand Teton National Park, 9/17
We were sad to leave Yellowstone, until we saw this:
The morning was beautiful, but by noon a storm was brewing
in the south, so we travelled north to stay ahead of it. When it finally caught us, we stopped for
lunch.
When the skies cleared, we returned south to Jenny
Lake.
We
took a ferry across the Lake to the base of the mountains, which range from
12,000 to 14,000 feet, and hiked up to Hidden Falls.
By the time we returned to the ferry landing, another storm
had popped up; this time with lightning and hail. Although Jim (typically) cowered beneath the
“safety” of overhanging trees, God in His/Her/Its infinite wisdom slammed
several hailstones onto his q-tipped head. Anne, who should now be sleeping with the fishes,
was trying to drag him from under the trees to “enjoy” the storm.
