Pendleton, OR, 9-20
We left Boise and headed toward the Blue Mountains of eastern
Oregon.
Does anyone remember those beautiful Pendleton suits and coats from back in the day when people actually wore wool in the winter to keep warm? Not to mention the woolen blankets. Here is where they were, and still are, made (since 1863). Just as beautiful as Anne remembers. (Jim patiently walked through the factory store with her.)And a couple of photos for our library-loving friends: the original Carnegie library in Pendleton, now an Arts Center...
...and the new Pendleton Library, a wing of the City Hall building.
A bronze statue in front of the Pendleton Music Hall.
We like Pendleton. Picture a town of 16,000 with a music hall, an arts center and two independent bookstores, alongside a saddle shop, a cowboy boot and belt store, and a local brewery.
And for you S&M freaks:
